Book Cover
This project was constructed to recreate a published book. After I chose my book, I went ahead and did some research on book cover sizes. Next I made a sketch on what I envisioned the design to look like. Using Adobe Illustrator, I constructed the book cover starting with the Text. Once aligned I went ahead and started to free draw the roses with the brush tool and placed them on the cover. Next, I used the pen tool to create the petals, adding a silver stroke to a few, and then started working on the vines. I then used the shape builder tool to connect the thorns to the vine. I added a linear gradient to the vines and a light silver stroke. After everything was placed, I decided to add a free flow gradient to the black background to make it look like some parts of the cover are being lite up.
Brand Style Guide
Botanical Boutique is a brand I created and designed. I started with creating a client questionnaire and brief to get an idea and feel of the brand. I chose the colour theme and fonts that best suited the brand. I created the logo using Adobe Illustrator and followed the golden ratio to give it an esthetically pleasing look, creating a vertical and horizontal logo so that the logo could be placed nicely on anything. After the logo was done, I went ahead and created thumbnail sketches to create the brand guide. Using Adobe InDesign, I started to put together my brand guide. I created business cards and posters staying on the brands theme, as well as merchandise. In the brand guide, I included the brand story and identity, the brand origin, brand logo, different variations of the logo, a page on explaining the logo, the colour palette and the secondary colour palette, the brand fonts, brand voice, supporting visuals and information, brand merchandize, a mockup of the brand storefront, brand signage, and the brand packaging.
Travel Brochure
This travel brochure was a project I had to design. After the project brief, I had to create a travel brochure for anyone who wanted to travel somewhere tropical for cheap. The travel location is Cancun, Mexico. The purpose of the pamphlet is to showcase the beautiful scenery and activities in the area while letting the viewers know it is affordable. Using Adobe InDesign, I created the travel brochure. I used colours and images that correlate with tropical holidays. I used call to actions to draw in the audience as well as giving them an idea on the prices.
Custom Photo
This is a custom image I created for a client. After meeting with the client and reviewing what they would like done, I found out they wanted a photo to hang in their washroom for Halloween. The client wanted ghosts in a bathtub filled with flowers. They had no specific colours in mind. I went ahead and found free images to compose my design. I used Adobe Photoshop to put together all of the pieces. I first added the ghost into the photo using the selection tool to cut out the parts I did not want. I lowered the opacity so that the ghost was more transparent. I then went in with selected flowers and placed them behind and around the edge of the tub. Next I formated it for print and printed out the design.
Brand Logo
This is a logo I created for a personal brand. After reviewing the project questionnaire and brief, the client wanted a logo for a snowboard & ski brand. The brands name was created because it is the owners last name and correlates with the word, ‘froze’. Giving the brand a feel of cold and snow. I took those components and designed a logo made of icicles using blues and blacks to insinuate coolness, trust and loyalty.
Colour Magazine
This is a magazine project I created to showcase colour. Using Adobe Photoshop, I edited the magazines image to brighten the colours and to convert to black and white. On Adobe InDesign, I created a file with facing pages. For each page of the magazine I used colours from the images on the correlating pages for the text giving it a clean look.
Graphic Design Magazine
This is a magazine project I created on Graphic Design. Using Adobe InDesign to create the magazine. For the images, I used ones I thought showcased design and design history. For the colour theme, I took colours from the cover image that went well together. I used a linear gradient on a few pages for the background and I used the same colours throughout the magazine.
Luv Cat Band Poster
This is a band concert poster I designed for a project. I researched the brand to get a feel of what they are about and what their brand is. I created a mood board on Adobe Photoshop to get a visual idea of what to create. The brand likes a gothic look and feel using green, red, and yellow. They also like checkers and leopard print. I wanted to incorporate that into my final design. To create the poster, I used Adobe Photoshop to select the part of the leopard I wanted to use and added it inside of the cocktail glass. Next, I went onto Adobe InDesign and started to place all the pieces. After everything was on the poster, I used a very low opacity image to create an old, rustic finish. This also made the image I created look like it was meant to be their instead of having different textures.
Custom Poster
This is a custom wall art image I created for a client. I saved a new file from the Luv Cat poster File and got rid of all the typography and extended the image to fit bigger on the poster, removing some of the white space. I saved the file in Print format and printed out the design.
Lisa's Facial Nook
These are custom business cards and a store window decal I created for a client. I had a meeting with the client and we went through what she was looking for her brand to invoke. After choosing colours, I went ahead and created a draft of a design.
